Launch Scrub

Real Life has caused a launch scrub. I currently am attending college and working full time (and will switch jobs after the thanksgiving holiday!) So I'm quite busy with midterms this weekend so I didn't have time to work on GM-1.

I have changed the config of GM-1 as well. It's only going to be a small C estes rocket with off the shelf items I had bought in the past from Apogee Rockets.

I changed the config for a very good reason. I don't want to get in over my head on my first rocket. I don't want to make a complete fool of myself on the first launch. So I'm going to a more conservative approach. The first GM-1 will be now named Green Monster-2. I hope I can launch that before spring when Columbia Rocket Club loses it's launch site due to farming. I got my parts from Apogee today. The shipping was slower than I expected but rockets can't be shipped via air mail and so it had to go via ground.

I am going to write a review of Apogee and post it in the next few days (maybe even tonight)
The next launch is set for December 15th. I hope to be able to attend that one and launch GM-1

Project Fenway- Green Monster 1

I am announcing Project Fenway. Project Fenway is my first forray into Amature Rocketry. Project Fenway is named after my favorite Baseball stadium Fenway Park in Boston, Mass. Project Fenway will be a test for future projects as well the project I'll use for my Level One Certs.

Green Monster 1 (GM1) will be the first rocket in a series of rockets. I have just ordered the parts for GM1. It will be a 3 inch diameter 20 inch body with a Estes D-10 3 motor. I have ordered the parts from Apogee Rockets.

We'll see how PF-GM1 goes. I hope well. I plan on launching it on November 17th with the Columbia Rocket Club.

I will begin construction this Monday.

First Post and welcome

Welcome to the Rookie Rocket's blog. This is a place where I (a rookie at building amature rockets) will show you a work log on my projects. Currently I have two projects in mind. First will be a D or E motor with a 3 inch body. Second I want to build a launch control work station for my launches.

Stay tuned for more posts!
